Hofgarten

Hofgarten is a popular public garden in central Munich. The garden was built in 1613-1617 by Maximilian I, the Duke of Bavaria. In the middle of the garden is a pavilion. The garden was destroyed in World War II but rebuild in the old style afterwards.




Location

The garden is located next to Odeonsplatz. The metro station near the garden is at Odeonsplatz (U4 line). From Hofgarten to Marienplatz is a pleasant walk of 10-15 minutes through the Theatinerstrasse (pedestrian street). In the Theatinerstrasse is the Theatiner church, the Feldherrnhalle (logia) and many shops.
