- Helvetia Hotel Munich is a 3 star accommodation close to central train station
We stayed two nights in this hotel in August 2010.
In customer reviews on the internet, the hotel has good ratings.
Our experience with the Helvetia Hotel was also good; friendly staff, clean room, excellent location for metro/train.
room
Our triple room had modern furniture and was on the streetside on the second floor.
We had two single beds together with good mattresses. A large photograph was hanging behind the beds.
The third bed was a modern sofa bed with a hard bottom as mattress which slept pretty well.
A small lcd-television was standing on the desk at the wall.
The lights near the beds are operated by touching them (no buttons).
The windows in the room are large and can be opened. There is no airconditioning.
The bathroom has a normal size with a shower and toilet and was clean.
Towels were changed every day.
In the wardrobe is a electronic safety box.
The room has modern curtains which couldn't keep the room dark enough for me at night.
I used therefore a sleep mask. My family members had no problems with the curtains.
location & erotic clubs
The hotel is in the Schillerstrasse about 125 metres from the central railway station.
Distance to one of the entrances is 200 metres.
Between the hotel and the railway station is the U-bahn entrance (75m)
The Schillerstrasse is a busy road and not an alley. Many other hotels are established in the Schillerstrasse.
Opposite and around the Helvetia Hotel are three other hotels.
At night there is noise in the Schillerstrasse.
The reason is not in the first place the traffic but the Schillerstrasse has also several erotic shops and bars with strippers.
Beate Uhse's Atlantic City is a stripclub/ adult movie theater across the Helvetia Hotel.
I woke up both nights around 2 o'clock and heard talking/shouting on the street while our windows were closed.
Because i was tired of the walking all day it didn't kept me awaken.
When i woke up later in the night i didn't hear the noise anylonger.
I have read that the closing hour of the stripclub on Friday/Saturday is 5.00 in the morning (other days at 2.00).
Passing by, there was little offending things to see and i never saw strange looking people hanging outside in the day or in the evening.
services
The internet cost €5 for 24 hours.
The second day i had problems for one hour in the morning to log in.
The login codes (username/pasword) are ridiculous long and difficult.
You have to type in about 20 characters as username (something like BPdfg6Mhgkdf57@tel-com.de)
Breakfast room is on the first floor. Its a small bright room with modern furniture and views on Schillerstrasse.
During our stay only a few seats were taken when we eat our breakfast.
Food is very reasonable; scrambled eggs, bacon, croisssants, bread, meat, cheese, jam, muesli, yoghurt, fruit, juice, coffee and tea.
It cost €4.50 and is well worth the money.
